We welcome 53 young people who have signed up for this year’s Confirmation Programme. Confirmation is a very special and sacred moment in our journey of faith and the gifts from the Holy Spirit are many and worth begging Heaven for.
In Confirmation we are given a special strengthening by the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly and never to be ashamed of the Cross. As the Holy Spirit came upon the Church at Pentecost, empowering the apostles to spread the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the world, so the Holy Spirit gives power to those who are confirmed to share in God’s work. His mission in the entire world. The Sacrament of Confirmation commissions us to bear public witness to Christ. The O’Donovan family wish to thank the parish community most sincerely for such a wonderful celebration on the occasion of Deacon John’s 10th anniversary Mass. Special thanks to Canon Brian and to all the clergy who attended. A thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated for all your intentions.
We keep in our prayers Jim Creighan who died recently. Jim was a Eucharistic Minister and parishioner for many years at St. Teresa’s. May he rest in peace.
On Friday 1st March at St. Martin’s Church, Cambourne Road, Merton, from 10.45am followed by lunch. Each year the service is put together by a different country, the service this year is run by the Slovenia women. See poster in the porch.
