Merton Winter Night Shelter is a project involving YMCA London South West and nearly 20 faith groups in the Merton area. The Night Shelter project provides people who sleep rough in the Merton area with food and a safe place to be. St Winefride’s, Wimbledon will be hosting the shelter every Thursday night from Thursday, 30 November to Thursday, 25 January apart from Thursday, 28th December. On arrival at 6.00pm guests are given tea and biscuits and at 8.00pm guests and volunteers have a meal together. The food is prepared by volunteers outside the shelter and brought in to be re-heated. St. Winefride’s need volunteers to cook the food and help in the shelter during the evening. They also need 2 or 3 people to arrive at 9.00pm and stay overnight. The night shift hands over to the breakfast shift at 6.30am and everyone leaves by 8.00am. Polish speakers would be most welcome. If you are able to help, please email Brenda Grant or speak to Paul Carter for further information (07801 259814). Thank you.
