Please pray for all those you know, and those you don't, who are seeking steady work especially in these troubled times. Prayer to St. Joseph the Worker St. Joseph, by the work of your hands and the sweat of your brow, you supported Jesus and Mary, and had the Son of God as your fellow worker. Teach me to work as you did, with patience and perseverance, for God and for those whom God has given me to support. Teach me to see in my fellow workers the Christ who desires to be in them, that I may always be charitable and forbearing towards all. Grant me to look upon work with the eyes of faith, so that I shall recognise in it my share in God’s own creative activity and in Christ’s work of our redemption, and so take pride in it. When it is pleasant and productive, remind me to give thanks to God for it. And when it is burdensome, teach me to offer it to God, in reparation for my sins and the sins of the world. O good father Joseph! I beg you, by all your sufferings, sorrows and joys, to obtain for me what I ask. (mention your specific employment request here.) Obtain for all those who have asked my prayers, everything that is useful to them in the plan of God. Be near to me in my last moments, that I may eternally sing the praises of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Amen. (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) St. Joseph is also the patron of: families, fathers, married people, social justice, against doubt, against hesitation, people in doubt, The Americas, dying people, a happy death, expectant mothers, interior souls, immigrants, labourers, travellers and unborn children. ![]() On Thursday last we said goodbye to Joseph Lunn. The family would like to pass on their thanks for such a lovely, meaningful Service, watched by over 2000 people, and especially to all those who donated to Joseph's chosen charity Rays of Sunshine which meant so much to him. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/forever19 One of the songs sung, chosen by Joseph, was from the film "I Still Believe". Joseph's parents wish to encourage anyone who can to watch this film which they feel depicts Josephs own story. The film is available on Prime Video. ![]() Beyond the Cross 'Beyond the Cross' is a five-part art and culture series produced by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales. It follows on from 'At the Foot of the Cross', which considered four famous paintings telling the story of Christ's Passion and Resurrection. 'Beyond the Cross' follows the Risen Christ through the artist's eye taking in some of the main encounters of the season of Easter. In the video below the viewer is asked to look at the empty tomb and take as inspiration the Swiss painter Eugene Burnand's 1898 work 'The Disciples Peter and John Running to the Sepulchre on the Morning of the Resurrection'. Join the beautiful parish of St Francis de Sales at its Marian Shrine in Hartley for their online pilgrimage on Saturday 1st May at 3.30 pm. The parish will be offering hymns, prayers and reflections. Details below.
