"The greatest Saint of modern times” Pope St. Pius X
At the beatification process of St. Theresa, Mother Agnes testified: ![]() The Hour of Great Mercy The moment of three o'clock in the afternoon A devotion most dear to Our Lord is the veneration of His Passion at the very hour that recalls His death on the Cross. Through the passion and death of Jesus Christ, the very kingdom of God was opened up to us. Love should fill our response to the request of Jesus who said to Saint Faustina: “At three o'clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy. ... In this hour I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion (Diary, 1320). I remind you, my daughter, as often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners; for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul. In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking; it was the hour of grace for the whole world - mercy triumphed over justice. ... My daughter, try your best to make the Stations of the Cross in this hour, provided that your duties permit it; and if you are not able to make the Stations of the Cross, then at least step into the chapel for a moment and adore, in the Most Blessed Sacrament, My Heart, which is full of mercy; and should you be unable to step into chapel, immerse yourself in prayer there where you happen to be, if only for a very brief instant (Diary 1572). Jesus gave this prayer, to be said at 3 o'clock especially for sinners; it is a powerful conversion prayer and should be used for those who have strayed from the faith. This is the prayer: You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. (Repeat three times) O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You! The Divine Mercy Novena begins on Good Friday and concludes with the Feast of Divine Mercy on the Sunday after Easter Sunday - the 11th April. Jesus gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena, saving for the last day the most difficult intention of all, the lukewarm and indifferent. To take part in the Novena of Divine Mercy follow the link: https://www.thedivinemercy.org/message/devotions/novena/firstday My people I greet each of you with the words of the Risen Lord to the disciples on the night of Easter. Peace be with you!
Our journey through Holy Week will be rich in blessings. This year we are able to gather in prayer, and many will join us online. It's been a tough year for so many near and far. We keep each other wrapped in prayer as we journey to meet the Risen Lord. In the Church's liturgy even in a year when it is scaled down, we are offered so much. Our Lenten days have seen us take on prayer, fasting and almsgiving. I invite us to think about the joy of the resurrection in the context of the events leading up to the crucifixion of the Lord. In the days to come we will witness so much. On Good Friday we recall the arrest of Jesus, Peter's betrayal, the trials before Pilate and Herod, the baying crowd demanding death, the scourging and crucifixion. These awful events depict the darkest aspects of human nature and which are appropriately expressed in sombre reflection and meditative music. Next Sunday will be so special it's a complete contrast centring on a garden tomb, a stone rolled away and the presence of angels impelling us to declare with organ and trumpets: "Thine be the Glory, risen, conquering Son endless is the victory thou o'er death has won." May the Lord Rise again in your life and in the lives of those you know and love. The sacrament of Confession will be available every day during Holy Week. Going to Confession is one of the most important things we do in our spiritual lives. God bless your Soul. And God bless your journey to the Father's Kingdom. Again, with great sadness I have to announce the loss of a friend and parishioner MARY CREIGHAN who was called to Eternal Life this week .
I prayed at Mary’s home with her family and blessed Mary before she was taken into care by the Coroner’s Office. Her death has come as a shock. Please keep her soul in Your prayers. We offer our sincere condolences to her three daughters Karen, Susan and Teresa . We send her grandchildren our love and all branches of her family. Mary is a daughter of Ireland; Carlow was where she was reared. Mary was one of fourteen. We also send our condolences to her family back home. Many of you will remember her late husband JIM CREIGHAN who left for Eternity in February 2019. Mary, Jim and their family have been parishioners for more than forty years! Lovely people, a much-loved family blessed with good friends. One of Mary’s very close friends is Chrissy, we would often see them at Mass together and both were regulars to our parish grotto - their friendship spanned more than 40 years. Good friends are missed, our condolences are also offered to Chrissy and her family. Mary had a great sense of humour and a lovely smile and a prayerful heart. We thank God for her seventy-six years of life on Earth. For the blessings she received and the blessing she was. May She Rest In Peace and Rise In Glory |
