Thank you so much for your very generous gift to the CAFOD appeal. St Teresa’s Parish has been able to respond with love, prayers and money, to support families like James’ in Liberia and communities around the world, during Lent. We managed to raise £825.00 for our global brothers and sisters. Thank you!
Everyone a migrant. Anyone who has moved from one country to another, from one part of the country to another, one city to another, one town to another, one street to another is a migrant whether travelled by bus, train, car, taxi, aeroplane, boat, ship or any other means of transport. Everyone is welcome. Bring one another to celebrate the valuable contribution the stranger makes to every structure of society in life across our city and beyond. Principle celebrant Archbishop John Wilson. The Mass will be celebrated on Monday 6th May at 12.30pm at St George’s Cathedral, London SE1 6HR. People are encouraged to arrive early. For over half a century, St George's Cathedral has been the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, home to 175 parishes and over 50,000 Roman Catholics. For many Catholics living and working across London and the South East of England, St George's has been a beacon of light. Today, St George's Cathedral continues to attract thousands of worshippers and visitors each year, as well as serving a lively local parish community which proudly reflects the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of South London. The Cathedral frequently hosts important Diocesan and national celebrations, as well as concerts and events for various Catholic charities. There is a rich musical tradition, maintaining a choir of boys and men, as well as a girls' choir, both of which sing at Sunday Masses and on major feasts. In many respects, St George's Cathedral serves as a spiritual home and 'beehive' for Catholic evangelisation and mission across the Archdiocese of Southwark. St George's Cathedral is entirely reliant upon the generosity of its parishioners, volunteers and the Archdiocese of Southwark to keep its doors open. It does not receive Vatican or government funding, nor has an endowment to rely on. Your support can enable the Cathedral to remain open daily to those seeking a place of peace, prayer and worship. 20 July 2024 will mark the Golden Jubilee of ordination to the priesthood of Archbishop Kevin McDonald. Archbishop Kevin will be marking this anniversary by preaching at the Celebration of Priesthood Mass in the Cathedral on 31 May. Archbishop John will be the principal Celebrant of the Mass, which will begin at 12:30. Archbishop Kevin would like to extend an especial invitation to all clergy, religious and consecrated, and lay-faithful of the archdiocese to join him at this Mass, as he would greatly appreciate their presence and support. Members of Archbishop Kevin’s family and friends will be present also.
The Priest Training Fund Second Collection
The priesthood has always been essential to the life of the Church, from the time of Jesus until today. In the Archdiocese of Southwark, we are blessed to have men answering the call to the Priesthood and Diaconate and choosing to dedicate their lives to Christ and His people. Your donation to the Priest Training Fund will support the work of the Archdiocese of Southwark’s Vocations team, so they can encourage and inspire those who hear God’s calling. Your donations will also support the seminary fees and living costs of our Seminarians and those in formation for the Diaconate. |
