In collaboration with Archbishop John's vision for every parish, our team at St. Teresa's has taken a proactive approach to identify and address the formation gaps in our parish community. Through a Diocesan questionnaire and careful evaluation of our current realities and future aspirations, we have devised a parish action plan called "Some Definite Service." This plan aims to improve catechesis, ongoing formation, pastoral support and outreach efforts within our parish.
One of the critical areas we have identified as needing attention is the journey of our young people between First Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation. We recognise the importance of providing continuous support, guidance, and formation during this crucial period of their faith formation. By bridging this gap, we aim to nurture their relationship with Christ and empower them to live out their faith boldly.
Additionally, we acknowledge the need for post-Confirmation formation and ongoing spiritual development for all parish community members. We understand that faith is a lifelong journey, and it is essential to provide opportunities for building a mission to deepen our relationship with God and one another. Through various initiatives such as Bible Study Groups, Prayer Groups, Retreats, Parish Missions, and Parish Formation Days strive to create a supportive environment for individuals and groups to continue their spiritual development.
Furthermore, we are committed to reaching out to those who may have drifted away from the Church or feel marginalised. Our parish welcomes everyone seeking to join our Catholic family, and we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive space where they can encounter the love and mercy of Christ Jesus.
By implementing programs and initiatives that cater to the needs of these individuals, we hope to reconnect them with their faith and foster a sense of belonging within our community.
To ensure the successful implementation of this action plan, we recognise the importance of strong leadership within our Parish. The Role of the Parish Leads and Catechist Team Lead Coordinators is paramount.
With my assistance and Deacon Con’s, we will give guidance and support in overseeing the various initiatives outlined in the plan. Their dedication and passion for the gospel will inspire you and others to actively participate in the life of the parish and contribute to its growth.
Furthermore, we are grateful for the guidance and support provided by the Deanery Mentor, an excellent initiative by Archbishop John. The Mentor's role is to provide advice, encouragement, and resources to help us navigate the challenges and opportunities of parish life. With their expertise and guidance, we are confident in our ability to execute the action plan effectively.
Finally, we believe that the involvement of the parish family is indispensable to the success of our parish community.
Your active participation, enthusiasm, and commitment to living out your faith will play a vital role in creating a vibrant and engaging parish. By encouraging and empowering parishioners, young and old, to take on leadership roles, we can foster a sense of ownership and shared responsibility within our community.
Conclusion:
As we embark on this journey to bridge the gaps we have identified as a priority Our Teams with your help and support will make good progress. Other initiatives are needed and we hope to set them up in the months to come.
